hello from art portraits sydney
Well hello,
I’m delighted that you have found your way here. Let me introduce myself…
My name is Catherine and I am a Photographer & Artist from Sydney Australia.
I’m a Mum of three gorgeous humans and I love being a Mum more than anything.
Another obvious passion of mine is Creativity - in particular Art & Photography. Since leaving high school in 1992 (gosh that was over 30 years ago) I have always been involved in the arts & media. I began shooting portraits as my second job out of uni - my first was a photo retoucher in publishing. I loved shooting portraits then, and I love shooting them even more now. There is so much to learn about people by taking their portraits.
I love what I do because there is so much more to it than taking photographs. Every time I photograph someone I get the opportunity to help them feel beautiful, to feel good about what they see in the mirror, and to feel empowered.
Theres a quote by Maya Angelou “At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” And aint that the truth. Its so good to be around people that make you feel good about yourself. We need more of that in our lives.
Through my years as a women’s portrait photographer I always saw my job as: take great photos and make her feel great. They really go hand in hand, cos if you feel good about yourself that will show in your photographs. But I really have always wanted the women to leave our photo session feeling confident and empowered. And hopefully they always have!
The best response I’ve ever recieved from a client was when she told me after her shoot that it was the most beautiful she had ever felt! That was the biggest compliment I could have received, and I’ve never forgotten it. Because for me, thats what its all about. And if I can make one woman feel that than I’ve done my job.
So, thats me for now. In another post I will go into the story of how ‘Art Portraits’ came about, and what they are really all about.
